Lagom Hem (roughly, “just-right home”) takes its name from the Swedish idea of lagom – not too much, not too little, just enough.

For us, that means creating homes more thoughtfully: buying better, keeping things for longer and passing them on when they’re no longer right for us.

It started with two bedside tables.

Hey, I’m Martyna, founder of Lagom Hem.

A few years ago, I ordered two bedside tables for our guest bedroom. When they arrived, both were damaged.

The retailer immediately offered a refund or replacement, but the tables themselves were still perfectly usable. I liked the shape, I knew I could fix the damage, and sending them back felt unnecessary.

So I asked a simple question:

Could I keep them for a reduced price instead?

That conversation stayed with me.

If I was happy to buy something imperfect, surely other people would be too. And if retailers were dealing with returned, damaged or surplus furniture every day, why wasn’t there a better way to connect those pieces with people who would actually want them?

That question became Lagom Hem.

Today, we’re building a marketplace where pre-loved, returned, imperfect and surplus furniture and homeware can find its next home – rather than being overlooked simply because it isn’t brand new or completely perfect.

Good things deserve another chance.

Lagom Hem brings together people looking for better ways to buy and sell furniture, and brands looking for better routes for returned, imperfect, surplus and end-of-line stock.

Our aim is to make keeping furniture in circulation feel normal – not niche, complicated or worthy.

Because buying more thoughtfully shouldn’t mean compromising on style, quality or price.
