how imperfection sparked innovation
Hey! Martyna here, founder of Lagom Hem.
My journey began with a simple purchase: two beautiful bedside tables for the guest bedroom. When I eagerly unboxed them, I discovered that they had arrived damaged. Disappointed, I reached out to the company, who quickly offered a full refund or replacement. But as I looked at the tables, I realised their potential. The shape was perfect, and with a little paint, they could fit perfectly into the room’s design.
Instead of returning the tables, I asked the company if they would consider a partial refund if I kept them. In that moment, a spark of inspiration ignited: why wasn’t there an online marketplace where imperfect items could find a home with people who don’t mind a little DIY or who simply embrace the item’s imperfections as part of its unique story?
And so, Lagom Hem was born: a platform where second-hand, imperfect, and customer-returned home furniture and decor can find new life in homes that see beauty in the imperfect.
I believe that every item has a story to tell, and sometimes, those little flaws make it all the more special.
